Waking Up With Cupcake!

Hello and welcome to Cupcake Cupczech! Thank you to Aly Fletcher (Sports Wife) for the excellent and quite delicious background of this blog. And, thank you to Fletcher for giving me a place to vent on his website, believe me when I say I NEED a place sometimes to air things out, ya heard?

My day starts off at 4:00 a.m., when my first alarm goes on from my IPhone. I turn that alarm off and turn on my clock alarm and set that alarm to go off at 4:30.

As soon as I get up at 4:40. I immediately head for the kitchen and make breakfast. When it comes to breakfast, it really is a "flavor of the month." One day it could be cheese grits, toast, eggs and sausage, five or six pancakes, or pizza from the night before.

As soon as I wrap that up at around 4:59, I head for the shower. If you guys would like to know, I use liquid soap and a sponge. After showering, I shave and brush my teeth. Then I get dressed, which takes another additional 10 minutes because I really want to impress a couple of ladies in the building who I have a little bit of a crush on.

After getting dressed, I bathe myself in cologne and I head for the door.

I make the long 15-20 minute drive to Pines Road where it really depends if it really is 15 or 20 minutes if there is a train preventing me from getting on the freeway. (I really hate trains, but that's for another post)

It really is cool to have the freeway to myself in the mornings, so I take the opportunity to cruise down the freeway.

When arriving at the KWKH studios in West Shreveport, I make an effort to go through all of the doors to see if I beat Fletcher to the radio station. When I do, I feel an extra sense of confidence and it carries me throughout the morning.

Fifteen minutes before 6:00 a.m., I run into the studio of our sister station K94.5 and record my sportscast for KWKH that airs once an hour. I choose that studio because the crush who I mentioned earlier always uses that studio. Then, I run back into the KW studio and record Fletcher's sports cast for the other radio stations.

When the show starts at 6 a.m. and the on-air light comes on, I am usually still tired so I'm still sipping on the coffee that is provided for us in the break room.

When I fade down the sweet and peaceful sounds of Dirtfoot's "Gonna Get Ya," Fletch cracks on his mic, and it doesn't take long for him to crack on me. But, as I remind people everyday if you can't take a cracking and have thin skin, please exit the radio industry...now!

On Monday's, Wednesday's and Friday's, I get the loveable Ed Hardy from the side door of the studio. EH is a excellent man, but isn't trusted with a key fob with to the radio station. Perhaps higher management is concerned he would steal all of the Van Halen CD's from our library?

Throughout the rest of the morning, we have a ton of fun talking about football, girls I've dated, how good looking I really am, and the highlights of my sportscasts that air hourly.

I'd like for YOU to be a part of the fun in the morning on AM 1130 The Tiger (KWKH-AM) from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Give us a call at (318) 320-1130.
